I like staff members especially Mr Fathy in Reciption helped me for my baby vaccine and guide for all trip questions. Staff are very friendly and have great smile all time. Really amazing trip and will back again in October.

Notes from a Seasoned Family Man (Warning: long-read content)

On WiFi:

As of June 2025, no internet issues detected. The entire hotel, including the beach and even the pier, is perfectly blanketed with signal. The internet is responsive and fast — Reels, YouTube, Telegram load in a flash. I feel confident enough to state that this is one of the best WiFi setups I’ve ever encountered in a hotel of this size and guest volume. You won’t need a local SIM — you’ll be online everywhere within the resort.

Each room features a dedicated access point from HPE Aruba’s enterprise-grade solution — your WiFi is in good hands.

On the Beach:

The promotional photos of the shoreline were misleading. Turns out, the entire beachfront along the hotel and sunbeds is permanently off-limits for swimming. Not temporarily — permanently. The shore area isn’t fit for swimming: it’s shallow, filled with sharp rocks and micro-mussels, and this side of the bay is technically a protected reserve. During low tide — which, in early June, happened daily — the receding water reveals a Mars-like landscape. Definitely not the time for Instagram photos — the view is bleak.

So, no post-volleyball dives into the sea — you’ll be running for several minutes to the other side of the bay or to the pier, and then walking another 200 meters over the protected area just to get to swimmable water.

Your alternative: a single shower column with four heads, awkwardly located in the middle of the beach. For 200 umbrellas = 400 loungers — one shower is laughably insufficient and poorly placed. Same goes for the only available toilet, also centrally located in the beachfront restaurant. To be fair, though — it’s impeccably clean and always smells fresh. That toilet alone earns a solid five stars.

I actually liked the umbrellas: huge, low, thatched structures with tables and hooks for bags and clothes. On-demand, the helpful staff will bring soft cushions for your loungers — and drinks, all day long.

What was the highlight of JAZ Lamaya Resort

Great vacation

We stayed at the hotel from May 4th to May 20th. We arrived around 1:00 AM, but official check-in was only after 2:00 PM. However, the staff was very accommodating and we were already in our room by 1:30 AM.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious. We never saw any queues at any of the food outlets. Even during the busiest breakfast hour, there were at most 2-3 people in line in front of the chef making omelets or fried eggs—just waiting for their order. I’d particularly like to highlight that at any time, there are a huge number of waiters in the restaurant who are extremely quick to bring drinks and clear dirty dishes—literally instantly. We dined at the outdoor restaurant, where for every 20-30 tables there were always 5 waiters working. Everything was top-notch!

Every day, the main restaurant offered several types of meat, a wide variety of side dishes, and a huge selection of dishes. The mussels were especially impressive—absolutely excellent!

Overall, my impressions of the hotel were only positive—I didn’t notice any downsides, just pluses. I’ve never seen so many beach attendants (beach boys) at any other hotel. There are lots of them—they walk around every 5 minutes offering drinks, all day long.

Among all the hotels around the bay, Jaz Lamaya is the most convenient in terms of its proximity to the pier.

There was never a shortage of sun loungers by the sea, although it was very crowded around the pool.

Every day, a PR representative named Christina walks around the hotel grounds. She listens carefully to all requests and resolves any issues instantly. Christina, huge respect to you!

Negative: The only slight disappointment was the sea, which was often rough. Here’s a link to the video I managed to shoot. Due to the waves, the water was a bit murky, and there were a lot of jellyfish:

And the prices in the shops on the hotel grounds are 10-15 times higher than in Hurghada. Moreover, in the local pharmacies, even though the price on the package is fixed (for example, 98 pounds), the seller asks for 700 or more. The same markups apply to sunscreen, shampoo, and other items.

The situation with taxis is similar: the Indrive app shows a fair price of 36 pounds to a neighboring town, but local drivers ask for 1000-2000. The hotel taxi offers a round trip to the city for 10 euros per person. We used this option because the pharmacies in the city are cheaper—prices there are only 1.5-2 times higher than what’s indicated on the package.
